Program Description
Competent interpretation is essential to ensuring that noncitizens receive a fundamentally fair proceeding in immigration court. During this webinar, the presenters, Tamber Hilton, Dana Leigh Marks, and Michelle N. Méndez, will provide background on the qualifications of and role of interpreters in immigration court, explain how practitioners can help prevent interpretation inaccuracies, discuss strategies for rectifying interpretation errors during the Individual Hearing, talk about best practices for preserving the record for appeal when interpretation inaccuracies arise, and identify arguments for appeal.
