On March 7, USCIS announced a new policy creating eligibility for deferred action and employment authorization for young people with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status who are stuck in the SIJS "visa backlog." The policy goes into effect on May 6. This webinar, hosted by the EndSIJSBacklog Coalition and intended for legal practitioners who represent SIJS youth, will discuss the key components of the new policy and flag as-yet-unanswered questions.
Speakers:
Dalia Castilllo-Granados, Director, Children's Immigration Law Academy
Rachel Prandini, Staff Attorney, Immigrant Legal Resource Center
Elizabeth Rieser-Murphy, Staff Attorney, Immigrant Youth Project, Legal Aid Society of New York
Alexandra Rizio, Managing Attorney for Training and Partnerships, Safe Passage Project
Rebecca Scholtz, Senior Staff Attorney, National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild
You can register for this free webinar HERE.
Please feel free to submit questions about the new policy HERE. We will cover them as we are able during the 3/17 webinar and also draw from them in our efforts to seek clarification from USCIS about the policy’s implementation.
