90 minutes of instruction (1.50 CLE credits)

Zoom Webinar

Program Description

Noncitizens with removal orders face significant barriers to establishing eligibility for immigration benefits for which they might otherwise be eligible. That is because the Immigration and Nationality Act contains many bars to benefits for noncitizens who have a prior order of removal. In today’s landscape where Immigration Judges issue removal orders at higher rates and DHS unlawfully removes people, understanding what removal-based bars apply and how to overcome them is a complex but necessary part of effective representation. During this webinar, the presenters will explain what counts as an order of removal, break down the removal-based bars and offer strategies for overcoming them, and discuss the status of settlement agreements that protect people with removal orders.
