Zoom Webinar

Program Description

Many immigration judges require declarations from asylum seekers before proceeding to a hearing. Declarations can make or break cases as they can both frame your client’s issues in a way that is most positive for their case, and lock your client into factual assertions that can hurt their credibility if they testify inconsistently. This webinar will discuss strategy considerations in providing detailed declarations, give tips on what makes declarations effective, and discuss the role of the representative in crafting the declaration. The faculty will provide examples of effective and less effective writing and engage in interactive exercises with participants.
