Program Description

Immigration law is ever-changing, and the stakes are very high for noncitizens who face possible deportation from their families. Immigration practitioners often face ethical conundrums because it is common for counsel to represent multiple family members whose interests in the case may not remain aligned throughout lengthy proceedings. Further, with immigration law changing on an almost-daily basis, attorneys struggle to keep up with competency in the law as well as their advisor role when cases may not be adjudicated for many years in the future. This webinar will address common issues of conflicts, confidentiality, communication, competency, and the duty of candor to the tribunal. The speakers will pose common fact patterns as hypotheticals and discuss solutions that are best for the clients as well as the for the practitioner.
